HB 2377 emerged last week as the tax increase most likely to make it out of the Legislature and on to the ballot this fall. But this afternoon its sponsor, Rep. Eric Pettigrew, said it's dead.
This is good news, but anything can still happen. There are a few other tax proposals out there, and interest groups like SEIU are still lobbying hard for HB 2377.
The session is going to last until at least Sunday, and any matter of compromises or ideas could materialize before then. Today has been a good day, but stay in contact with your legislators and keep monitoring Olympia until the session is over. We know we will.
